Your #1 Dating Profile Priority
The age-old trope is true: First impressions are the most important. When it comes to your dating profile, the first photo is the #1 thing you’ve got to nail.
You and I both know that you’re very cool. (If feeling great about yourself has been a struggle, check out my blog post on confidence).
But! SHE doesn’t know that. The gal who might be “the one.” The woman who will weaken your knees. Your Grubhub + movie cuddle buddy. The person who will become your emergency contact. You know, your future gf.
Picture it: That gorgeous lady on that dating app, peering in confusion at a photo of your backside. An adorable cat’s head is peeking over your huddled shoulder. Your face and personality? Nowhere to be seen. She swipes left.
Unfortunately, Fluffy the Cat is probably not going to convince Mrs. Right INITIALLY that you’re the one for her. However, your lovely face might! Right!?
Here are some photo DO’s:
The first pic should be a photo of JUST you. Clear, flattering, and appealing.
Make sure you look the same in all your pictures. I know that sounds obvious, and you may look the same to you in your picture selection. However, if you have 5 photos all from different eras of your life, you may want to check that they portray the best of you in recent months.
Reveal parts of your life that you’d like your potential date to appreciate. What are your favorite hobbies? Try to feature those in your photos.
Include a full body shot. Clear, flattering, appealing.
Here are some photo DON’TS:
No group photos (ladies won’t know which one you are!)
No photos of you from behind (get your face in the frame)
Not too many photos with you and your pet (too much and we think you’re obsessed or lonely)
No car or bathroom selfies (you can do better than that)
If you want to have some better photos taken of you, ask a social media-savvy friend if he or she will snap a few pics of you when you are out and feeling your best. Remember- looking authentically happy is the best way get good photos of yourself!
